Manchester and Salford Ramblers

As well as a varied programme of weekly walks and hikes taking advantage of the excellent walking country around Manchester and Salford, the group occassionally organises weekends away, usually April and October.

We have had now had many weekends away: in Whitby, Kettlewell, Malham, Conwy, Hartington, Mankinholes, Arnside Youlgreave (Peak District), Ravenstor (Peak District), Slaidburn (Forest of Bowland) and in Windermere (Lake District) All were very successful.. We like to try out different parts of this beautiful country of ours!

There is a good turnout for the events and the YHs we stayed at were fantastic.

Our nest weekend away will be:

M and S Ramblers weekend away in Whitby Friday, 12th April - Sunday 14th April 2024

We will organise the walks but book your own accommodation – YHA or B & Bs.  Contact Salle if you want a lift and we’ll organise car share.

More details on walks and exact meeting times to follow.

Please note the walks will be leisurely to moderate.

Our Autumn weekend in Shropshire

Stiperstones 1

We had an ace weekend in Shropshire at the end of Sepember staying at a mix of Bridges YH and The Bridges Pub.

Two good walks each day where we experienced amazing views of Shropshire inc The Long Mynd, Adstone Hill, Corndon Hill, Stiperstones and the village of Wentnor.

 April weekend in Llangollen

Llangollen 24

A great choice for a Manchester and Salford Ramblers weekend – Llangollen had everything – busy friendly town, heritage railway, picturesque canal, amazing aqueduct and some of the best walks in Wales!
The 4* hostel was excellent and very conveniently situated for everything.
The weather again did not let us down. Lovely sunny day on the Saturday.
Thanks to our Weekend Committee for all the organising.

Hathersage 4October weekend in Hathersage.

This time we stayed at the YH in Hathersage which was ideal for setting out on our 2 walks.  On the Saturday  we walked up to Stanage Edge. On the Sunday we got the train from Hathersage to Grindleford and walked up Padley Gorge towards Burbage and returned to Hathersage. Both amazing walks with the best weather we could wish for.

Thanks to our walk leaders.
