Manchester to Chorlton Walking and Cycleway – what walkers need to know!
We have made a submission to the latest consultation - for the full submission please follow this link.
We believe the proposals would mean:
- Safer more pleasant pavements
- Easier side road crossings
- Much improved major junctions
Traffic should be less and it will be slower with a new 20mph limit through the centre of Chorlton and there will be better pavement quality. Mixed wildflower planting will improve the look and feel of the area. The segregated cycleway will prove an addition separation between walkers and traffic, making it more pleasant to walk.
At nearly all the side junctions speed tables would be in and the side road narrowed to reduce traffic speed and crossing distances to make them much easier and safer to cross. The raised table removes uneven curbs and make it easier for those with mobility issues and parents with push chairs and buggies.
At the three major junctions in this section – Seymour Grove, the “4 Banks” and Sandy Lane, there will be improved crossing times and shorter distances to cross – and at the 4 banks a diagonal crossing line!
