The City Council and the NHS have produced a vision of how the current North Manchester General Hospital site could be developed to provide updated health care services and also opportunities for education facilities and housing.
This Draft Strategic Framework also refers to promoting sustainable travel and attractive walking routes.

We have made a formal submission to the consultation, supporting improved access to green travel options including safe walking and cycling routes.
We have pointed out that stage 4 of the Manchester Green Trail comes from Heaton Park and Blackley Forest to Crumpsall Park and then follows the southern boundary of the site.
We would be keen to liaise with designers and planners on making the most of this connection.
We would also very much support examination of the opportunities to create footpath / cycle connections to the River Irk and would be happy to be involved in the process of developing ideas and routes.
